Project Collaboration Software

In the spirit of the adage "eating one's own dog food," CoLab is developing open-source software to help mixed teams of NASA and non-NASA participants brainstorm, create and execute new CoLab projects.

On April 11, NASA released a solicitation ("Request for Quotes" or RFQ) to the community for collaboration software focused on partnerships and real-time interactions at events and conferences.

This solicitation was unique in that it was the first RFQ released from NASA that required the end product to be released, and even developed, in the open source domain.

Chapter Three was selected as the recipient of this contract, and is currently building a Drupal install custom tailored, specific to this application.

Chapter Three has started a Drupal Group on this partnership software. This group will be a place for discussion and development of the software.

The software will be released as a standalone Drupal install and will be available to and customizable for any conference-type application, inside and outside of NASA.

We very much welcome contributions of ideas and/or code to this software development effort. Please join the Drupal Group to get involved in the development process, or contact us if you have questions.

WHAT:The eighth Luna Philosophie will feature Patrick Hogan, Project Manager and Randy Kim, UI, Data and Graphics Lead for NASA World Wind, an open source 3D interactive world viewer. Together, they will be discussing "Open Source at NASA: 3D Visualization with NASA World Wind".
