Internal Facilitation

NASA CoLab is funded to aid programs and missions create opportunities for public collaborations. We provide a deep knowledge of so-called "web 2.0" technologies, and extensive experience building community around them. Working directly with you, together we come up with an action plan which reflects your project's interests and requirements, while scaling to the resources available.

Whether you already have ideas for projects that will benefit from distributed, open contributions and collaborations, and want help connecting to the right communities; or, have the desire for greater participation without being sure the exact form this would take, CoLab will facilitate and participate in any or all of the ideation, requirements, design, and communication phases, and where necessary can continue through the implementation phase.

We also work hard to build and maintain substantial ties to people and groups outside of NASA, accelerating awareness and adoption of new projects within external communities.

NASA CoLab is a service available to any NASA program or mission, for free. Whether you join us in the co-working space for a casual brainstorm, or want to develop a formal open collaboration plan, please don't hesitate to contact us if you are interested in learning more.

What would YOU like to ask of young people that work at NASA? On July 20, 2008, members from the younger generation from four NASA Centers will discuss the future of space exploration as part of the Lunar Science Conference at NASA Ames Research Center. The panel is entitled "This is your Future-- Why the Moon?" and is open to a variety of space topics. We invite you to participate by submitting questions to the panel online, modeled after the CNN YouTube Debates. If your video is selected, it will be aired at the event and discussed by the panel.

WHAT:The eighth Luna Philosophie will feature Patrick Hogan, Project Manager and Randy Kim, UI, Data and Graphics Lead for NASA World Wind, an open source 3D interactive world viewer. Together, they will be discussing "Open Source at NASA: 3D Visualization with NASA World Wind".
